Welcome to AMI.
Since our inception,
we have
developed,
produced, directed, edited, written, and consulted on such
projects as feature length documentaries, films, television
series,
music
videos,
commercials,
books, scripts, treatments, and major motion picture trailers.
Film Americana, a division of AMI, is dedicated
to developing projects for HD feature film production that
pass
a strict
internal
greenlight review and are thus eligible to secure production
financing along with US and international distribution.
As a balanced production company, Film Americana
gives equal weight to business and creative concerns. We
are
committed to producing films that examine the human
condition with a high degree of artistic merit and the promise
of
long
term commercial success. We are equally committed to producing
films with transformative, redemptive stories
and believe in the power of film to enlighten, to celebrate exceptional human achievement, to examine American history, and to enact social change.

TOP KILL:
THE ART OF THE SPILL
When the Deepwater Horizon exploded, caught on fire, and sunk to the ocean floor, we knew our next project would be a documentary on the BP oil spill. Indeed, we're currently on the Gulf Coast working on Top Kill, a film that gives a voice to the people who have been deeply affected by the biggest manmade environmental disaster in American history.
Interwoven through that terrible timeline, we feature artists whose work has responded to the spill in some way or who have been inspired to take social action during this difficult hour.
Calling south Alabama home, Jo Billups and Karen Harvill of the band Sassafras are folk singers and activists. Their lyrics reveal the anger and frustration of many in the Gulf region as the BP saga continues to unfold.

Painter and mixed media artist, Lori K. Gordon, from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, has raised money for the Gulf region to fight the spill by auctioning some of her artwork. Lori lost everything in Katrina and was just getting back on her feet as the oil spill struck.

These are just a few of the stories we'll tell in Top Kill. Come back often to learn more about our next documentary film.

Born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi,
our director, Don Wilson,
was deeply moved by the losses of his friends and family.
In Mississippi Son, he returns home to talk to those who lived through the hurricane
and continue to struggle with life in the aftermath of the worst natural
disaster
in American history.
While the media has been focused on New Orleans, Mississippi Son reminds
us that the Mississippi Gulf Coast was completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
We would like to extend special thanks to
The Edge and Music Rising along with the Grammy's MusiCares.
The soundtrack was recorded with instruments bought with
grants from these two generous organizations dedicated to
helping musicians who lost everything in the storm.
We would also like to thank The 28th Annual
Telly Awards who have honored this film for achievement in
three categories: Documentary Filmmaking, Editing, and Use
of Music.
