Since completing
her Ph.D. in American literature and film,
Leslie Wilson has worked as a writer, producer, and consultant
with AMI. Deeply committed to the art of writing
for social action, social change, and social justice,
she
also teaches
writing at
Pepperdine
University where she has directed the undergraduate creative
writing program, the MFA in screenwriting, WordFest, and
the Fall Literary Arts Festival. She serves as film studies faculty as well.
In recent
years, she
has had several scripts produced for stage and screen,
presented papers at regional, national, and international
conferences, and published in every genre. In
addition
to her work with AMI,
she edits creative writing and American Studies publications
for Americana:
The Institute for the Study of American Popular Culture.
Due to her interests, experience, and expertise, Leslie
is often interviewed
on various aspects
of creative writing, production, publishing, and
American culture by producers and reporters from such
media organizations
as
CNN,
BBC, Channel 4
(UK),
Bloomberg News, ABC News, the Speed
Channel, the Discovery Channel, The Associated Press, the Los
Angeles Times, the New York Times, Newsday,
the Christian Science Monitor, and the Chicago Tribune.
Her most recent scripts include Mississippi Son for AMI, Fighting Words for PBS, and the play Interview with the Devil, which premiered at The Howard A. White Center in Malibu. She is currently writing and producing a film about the biggest manmade environmental disaster in American history, Top Kill: The Art of the Spill. |
